Game Highlights

The Highlanders were without Devin Sweetney and Chris Johnson for Saturday’s game, who were both out with illness.

Quarter 1: Highlanders 17, Storm 25

The Highlanders scored the first point of the game in a defensive-minded game early. The Island Storm began to shoot well from distance to take the lead just over halfway through the 1st quarter. The Highlanders played well defensively but the Storm continued to find points from beyond the arc to maintain the lead. Aaron Redpath of the Highlanders left the court due to injury shortly before the Highlanders tied the game at 17, and the Island Storm went on a 8-point run to end the quarter.

Quarter 2: Highlanders 49, Storm 52

The Storm drained another 3-point shot early to extend their lead to start the 2nd quarter. The Highlanders continued to play their game by driving to the basket and drawing fouls to get to the free-throw line. The Highlanders, led by Jamal Reynolds, went on a 11-point run to tie the game again shortly before the halfway point of the quarter. The game became a defensive contest again before the Storm played aggressively on offense to extend their lead, but the Highlanders regrouped and brought the score to within 3 at the half.

Quarter 3: Highlanders 78, Storm 78

The Highlanders played well as a team to keep the score close with only 7 players available to them and took the lead early in the 3rd quarter. Guillaume Boucard of the Island Storm, recently named Canadian Player of the Year for the NBLC, was playing an impressive individual game to lead his team. The lead was exchanged several times in a back-and-forth quarter but it was a tied score heading into the final frame.

Quarter 4: Highlanders 109, Storm 102

The Highlanders played well offensively to open the 4th quarter and stopped the Storm with effective defense and finding rebounds. The Highlanders continued to play hard and with energy despite their short bench and took their largest lead of the game midway through the quarter. The Storm battled back to make for an exciting finish but the Highlanders held on to win their second game in a row and final regular season game.
