Highlanders Win Second Straight Game

For the first time this season, the Cape Breton Highlanders won back to back games.  In front of an enthusiastic crowd at Centre 200, the Highlanders defeated the visiting Windsor Express  103-100.

Cape Breton showed determination and intensity from the opening tip off.  Strong shooting and tough rebounding on both ends of the court allowed the Highlanders to take a 9 point lead into the second quarter and an impressive 55-46 lead into half time.  Physical play continued in the second half and Windsor fought back to tie the game 97 with less than 2 minutes left in a tightly contested game.  However, the Highlanders took control again late and left with the 3 point victory.

Shaquille Keith led the Highlanders with 27 points and 6 rebounds, while Charles Mann Jr. and Booker Woodfox each contributed 17 points along with 3 and 6 assists respectively.  Newcomer Anthony Walker also chipped in 10 points (all dunks) to go with 6 rebounds, while electrifying the crowd at key points in the game.
Quinnel Brown led the Express with 21 points and 6 rebounds, while DeAndre Thomas scored 20 points to go with his 6 rebounds, and Warren Ward also chipped in 19 points with 4 assists.
The Cape Breton Highlanders hit the road now with an away game against the Saint John Riptide on Friday, February 3, 2017 .

The Cape Breton Highlanders Franchise is one of 10 professional basketball teams in the National Basketball League of Canada. The Highlanders’ ownership group is comprised of successful business and community leaders in Cape Breton and led by President and General Manager Tyrone Levingston.

Such a great game....again! They are so exciting to watch! Love the new dunker.....Mr Anthony "Skywalker" Walker......We noticed the guys (especially Shaq and Charles Mann) encouraging the fans to chear by gesturing with their arms and it worked! Booker Woodfox IS BACK...making shots from just about anywhere! Charles Mann was on top of his game as always! Hats off to Shaq who took the time before the game started to sit next to a little guy and enjoy some small talk topped off with a few high fives throughout the day.....it goes a long way with the fans and that little guy was thrilled!! Still missing Hank "Colgate" Thorns!!! Luby got to contribute tonight and Mike Rostampour...king of rebounds....you are not getting the ball from this guy!!! Best part - yet another fan telling me "I didn't even like basketball" who now says she will not miss a game!!!
