Dear CBRM Council, Cape Breton MLA’s and MP’s:

The Nova Scotians for Equalization Fairness Board would like to invite you to an open discussion regarding funding for Cape Breton Island. This will be a “closed to the public” meeting with a live stream to the internet and Cape Bretoners will be able to watch this session from their homes. The NSEF will keep this session, productive and non abusive towards any person in attendance. We all need to sit down and address these important issues TOGETHER.

We do not have to tell you that the political landscape on Cape Breton is changing rapidly and this is your chance to discuss the barriers and challenges within the Nova Scotia Provincial Government that you face when fighting for Cape Breton. The NSEF is committed to investigating this injustice for the people of Cape Breton. We will display you names attached to a spot on the respective tables (MLA’s, MP’s and Councilors) so please respond and let us know what date works better for you as the viewing audience will not be happy if any seats are empty at your table. This is an important issue and it demands your time and attention.

The dates we are considering are: Wednesday June 13th at 1pm or Thursday June 14th at 1pm

Please respond to what day is better for your schedule

Regards,

NSEF Board

The NSEF has only heard from 2 MLA's so far about attending this very important information session on Thursday June 14th. We are sending people to North Sydney tomorrow for the PC event. If the 5 PC MLA's from Cape Breton are there and not at the meeting on Thursday, then you know what is important to them, Party Politics and not the important issues facing this island and the concerns of their voters. We will be watching!

Hello NSEF community: This is an informational email to update the public on our actions and plans moving forward. We will hold an information session this Thursday at 1 pm. but it will be closed to the public attending but you will be able to watch live on a link on our facebook page as well as ask questions from this link. We have heard from a few MLA’s stating that they are unable to attend and yet no reason was given why? We will include their phone numbers below and if they do not attend, then we urge the public to call their offices and ask why they feel this issue is not important to them because in reality, it is the future of Cape Breton and it is important. There are a few things we ask of you all while waiting for the next protest that we will announce soon. 1. We all as concerned citizens should call 1 800 o Canada (1-800-622-6232) and voice your concern over the lack of funding in Cape Breton by the Nova Scotia Provincial Government. These calls are recorded and sent to the various people in Ottawa who may be able to help. Please mention that we pay 87% higher taxes than Halifax and we are severely underfunded in all aspects. We also need to mention that we have the highest child poverty, Highest homelessness rate in the Province, one of the highest insolvency rates in the Country, one of the worst performing economies in Canada, we have crumbling infrastructure with nothing spent in over 20 years and Highest commercial property tax rates to keep business from developing in this region. 2. We also ask you to call Nova Scotia Human Rights at 1-877-269-7699 and file a complaint against the Nova Scotia Government. A quote from the Human Rights act of Nova Scotia is listed below and feel free to read or quote this when speaking to the NS Human Rights office:

Quote from NS. Human Rights Act: recognize that the government, all public agencies and all per- sons in the Province have the responsibility to ensure that every individual in the Province is afforded an equal opportunity to enjoy a full and productive life and that failure to provide equality of opportunity threatens the status of all persons;
