J.A. Douglas McCurdy Sydney Airport and Air Canada Celebrate Inaugural Flight

The J.A. Douglas McCurdy Sydney Airport and Air Canada are pleased to announce the commencement of Air Canada’s newest route addition to Sydney with direct service to/from Montreal. This route will operate from June 27th 2019 to October 26th 2019.

The first flight to Montreal (AC7997) departed this morning at 6:00 a.m. The first inbound flight from Montreal (AC7998) arrived at 16:20 and was greeted with a water cannon salute, along with a warm welcome from the Cape Breton Community.

Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) serves as a major hub for domestic, trans-border and international passenger traffic offering service to 150 locations around the globe. The connectivity options from Sydney (YQY) over Montreal (YUL) are endless, enabling more Cape Breton air travelers to conveniently begin their world adventures right from their own local JA Douglas McCurdy Sydney Airport.

This new route also provides the opportunity to showcase our beautiful Island even more to Canada and to the world, by offering more connectivity and more flying options, especially for visitors from Quebec.
