Katharine’s Island – Dinner & Theatre Experience
Katharine’s Island is a 90 minute historical drama that tells a story of women, war, and uncovering our past through eyes of one of Canada’s most remarkable figures – Katharine McLennan. Sitting alone in her museum on the eve of the reconstruction of the Fortress, she begins to reflect on her life and on what has often been left out of the historical text: the experiences of women. Through her memory and imagination we are transported from Cape Breton Island, to World War I France, to an 18th Century town and back again. A vibrant portrait filled with laughter, tragedy, music, and memories.
Presented by Her Voice Theatre Company – dedicated to bringing alternative narratives to the Cape Breton stage. In partnership with the Fortress of Louisbourg Association, Parks Canada, and the Cape Breton Regional Library.
