Kinsmen Deliver Big During Holidays

Like many local service clubs, the Kinsmen Club of Sydney has had membership challenges in recent years.  With only 15 members, the Club is still making a big difference in our community.

For over 30 years, the Kinsmen have raised money and delivered groceries to needy families during the Holiday season.  In recent times, the Families For Families program has expanded to provide for over 100 households in the Cape Breton Regional Municipality.

“We’ve helped a lot of people over the years,” said Program Coordinator Ernie Lewis.  “Last year we had seven trucks going and delivered groceries to 103 families.  This year we expect to do the same, if not more.”

Giving is coordinated through the Salvation Army so that there is no overlap with other local charities.
