Local Microbreweries Win Big At Atlantic Canadian Beer Awards

The Atlantic Canadian Beer Awards is an annual event that gives breweries and cider houses from across the Atlantic provinces an opportunity to showcase their finest beer and ciders in a competition. In 2017, 50 breweries and cider houses submitted a total of 321 beer and ciders for a blind tasting by a panel of 20 certified judges and beer industry professionals.

Cape Breton's very own Big Spruce Brewing of Nyanza and Breton Brewing Company of Sydney took part in the event and earned multiple gold and silver awards. In addition, Big Spruce won Brewery of the Year while Breton Brewing was awarded the Beer of the Year award for their Stirling Hefeweizen.
