From CBC Nova Scotia:
The Ecology Action Centre has teamed up with the Pan Cape Breton Food Hub to make it easier for some low-income families to get in on the fall harvest.
They've partnered with the Glace Bay, N.S., food bank to make local produce, meats, homemade preserves and condiments available to ten families who have been referred by the food bank.
It's offered to participants for half the normal price, said Jody Nelson, local food co-ordinator for the Ecology Action Centre. She said there's a range of people for whom fresh produce is too expensive.
