The Cape Breton Highlanders professional basketball team hit the court in Moncton, NB for their third game of Season 2.
The Magic were prepared as they started the first quarter very strong, leading 30 to 15. The Highlanders stayed with the Magic in the second quarter, ending the half down 52 to 38.
The Highlanders started the second half strong, cutting the lead to single digits. The Magic fought back to increase the lead, only to have the Highlanders fight back again to cut the lead to 6. In the end, the Magic held on for the win, 112 to 94.
Haakim Johnson had a strong game for his Highlanders debut, scoring 21 points with 10 rebounds. Arti Stewart made some runs, finishing with 16 points and 3 rebounds. Aly Ahmed and Duke Mondy added 14 points each.
For the Magic, Jeremy Williams hit for 29 points and 8 rebounds. Anthony Anderson had 24 points and 7 assists.
Despite the 0 and 3 start, the Highlanders show promise by being competitive in all three of their games so far.
