New Halifax Ferry Named After Mi’kmaq Poet Laureate Rita Joe

One of the new Halifax Transit ferries will be officially named after Rita Joe, a cultural icon and considered to be the "poet laureate" of the Mi'kmaq people. Her poem "I Lost My Talk" is a powerful reflection on her feelings about the disconnection from her language while at a Nova Scotia residential school.
