Night Shift Thoughts on South Bar Public Bus Service

The "good thing" about working nights by yourself is that it gives you a lot of time to think! The "bad thing" about working nights by yourself is that it gives you a lot of time to think!
Sitting here on break in this very empty building, I got to thinking about South Bar not having a bus service, even though a bus does run through my community 4 times a day without paying passengers on it, and how my municipal councilor Lorne Greene justified the lack of public bus service to South Bar by inferring that it would mean a tax increase for the citizens of my small but growing community.
It is very late and I am growing older by the second, but if I remember correctly back in the late 80's early 90's there was municipal bus service in South Bar. I know this is a fact because I often took the bus back and forth from UCCB. That bus service was cancelled at some point supposedly because of a lack of ridership.
Now if you go along with councillor Greene's logic, the people of South Bar should have seen at the time of the bus service' abandonment a corresponding decrease in municipal taxes because of the elimination of this municipal service. I dare say at that time and moving forward from the point of the bus service' termination, that there has been no proportionate decrease in municipal taxation for the people of South Bar. This fact alone renders Mr. Greene's validation of the lack of bus service based on the veiled threat of an increase in municipal taxes, a moot point. It could be further reasonably argued that because no corresponding tax decrease was introduced at the time of the bus service' cancellation, and in light of the time that has passed since that point and that the residents have paid taxes during said period, that the inhabitants of South Bar and affected area have already paid for and continue to pay for municipal bus service.
I suggest that in light of ever-increasing fuel prices and the growing demand for bus service brought on by the influx of international students and new builds in the South Bar area, that it is only rational that, since "ghost buses" already run through my community, that an actual bus service be reinstated. After all it's better to make some money than none at all!
Then again what do I know, I'm just some guy working the night shift . Break is over....
Yours Sincerely
Rodney Joseph Gale, South Bar
