The area of South Bar, located on the New Waterford Highway, no longer has an active bus service.

According to Transit Cape Breton, it has been discontinued because of low ridership.

We feel that a bus route that extends to South Bar is necessary - not only for local residents, but also to enable CBU students to find suitable accommodations in the area. Without access to public transit to the university, shopping centres, and other amenities in the CBRM, apartments in South Bar are not a viable option for international students.
