So Holy Redeemer is not a mother of St Nicholas and is listed to make it look like a mother church. Who mission Holy Redeemer so who is a real mother church?History In the late 19th century, the number of Catholics in the Sydney area of Cape Breton continued to grow. In the year 1900, the Iron and Steel Company was formed with Henry Whitney as its President and things began to boom for Whitney Pier. Thousands of people from all over the world came in search of work and a new life, many of whom were Catholics. In 1901, the new Parish of Holy Redeemer was born, although yet a mission of Sacred Heart parish in Sydney. Holy Redeemer was built in a Romanesque style architecture by Ronald Gillis, architect and contractor. On January 12, 1902, Rev. Father Neil MacDonald became the first resident Pastor of Holy Redeemer parish. He had a congregation of about 2000 souls and the parish boundaries included South Bar, New Victoria, Lingan and Grand Lake. While much has changed in the Pier and the world, the Church of Holy Redeemer remains as strong as ever. Our numbers, like almost all of Cape Breton, have diminished, yet the Faith is still here. And, with God’s permission and blessing, Holy Redeemer will be here for many years to come. We invite you to join us for a weekend mass.

Quoted right from one of Dunn's yes man!! St. Anthony Daniel Church on Alexandra Street and Sacred Heart Church on George Street, “the mother church of Sydney,” according to Fr. Donald McGillivary, will hold their final Masses this month.

The Diocese has twice arranged for bridge financing to meet the obligations related to the settlement of a class action lawsuit and the settlement of opt outs. Bridge financing of $5 Million extended by another Canadian Diocese was needed as a form of bridge financing. A repayment of $0.5 Million was made in 2014 reducing the outstanding balance of the loan to $4.5 Million. There remains confidence that the market value of the real estate will sufficiently cover the financing to settle the related obligations. The main financial issue facing the Diocese with regard to the extinguishment of the debt required to finance the class action lawsuit is the timing of the real estate sales which are actively being pursued.

This statement is right off of the diocese website and incorrect they borrowed from the diocese of Hamilton in 2009 then 5 million from a bank in 2012 why are they misinforming us? Bridge financing is getting money at a lower interest rate to pay a loan off at a higher interest rate.
