When I ran for mayor of the CBRM, I made it clear that I understand the struggles families are facing in our community, and that I have solutions.
In negotiating to join the Liberal Party of Nova Scotia for this snap election, my agreement was based on a commitment to lower property taxes for the CBRM.
Tim Houston has found a way to get local MLAs like Brian Comer and John White to represent him first and our community second. Comer said Houston’s team complains ‘Cape Breton is getting everything,’ and then he and White dismissed the CBRM’s request for some financial relief.
Whether it’s PR stunts while we’re buried in snow, or gaslighting us on who pays for highway policing, these MLAs stand by a premier that would rather argue with our municipality than help us—during a housing crisis.
They’re asking you to support them with nothing for the CBRM. Comer criticized our plan to send $300 million to the CBRM, yet he fully supports Tim Houston’s plan to invest $40 million per year in Halifax to remove bridge tolls. FYI, that money could cut our property tax bills almost in half in the CBRM.
We’re offering an opportunity to make life more affordable and sustainable in the long term. I haven’t lost my fighting spirit. I will never arrive in Halifax as your MLA and sell out our community to advance in a political party.
If you want the best offer for the CBRM, and a candidate who will never forget where he’s from, then please vote for me in this election.
