Pregame Analysis: Highlanders @ Saint John Riptide (Mar 11, 2018)

The Cape Breton Highlanders professional basketball team begin a six-game road trip when they visit the Saint John Riptide on Sunday afternoon.

The Highlanders have activated Antonio Biglow, as he missed two games due to injury, and are hopeful Shane Osayande will be well enough to play, after missing two games due to illness.   

This will be the seventh matchup of the season, the series is tied 3-3 and the Highlanders have a 1-1 record in Saint John. It will be the 15th meeting all-time, and the Highlanders have an overall record of 6-8 against the Riptide.

  

The Riptide are in 3rd place in the Atlantic Division with a record of 15-13, and have a record of 9-5 at home. They last played on March 5, at home against the London Lightning, and won 109 - 102.

 

The Highlanders are 5th in the Atlantic Division with a record of 11-20 and have a record of 5-8 on the road so far this season. This is the beginning of a six-game road trip, and a gruelling five games in eight days for the Highlanders, as they continue to push for the playoffs. They last played at home against the Moncton Magic on March 8, and are currently on a five-game losing streak.

 

For the Riptide, Malcolm Miller(#33) scores 18 points with 6 rebounds and 2 assists per game, while Horace Wormley (#4) averages 14 points, 5 rebounds, and passes for a team-best 6 assists a game. Former Highlander Aly Ahmed recently signed with the Riptide and will play against his old team for the first time.  Ahmed has averaged 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 assist in three games with the Riptide.

 

The Highlanders are led by Malik Story, who scores an average of 20 points, with 4 rebounds, and 2 assists, and Bruce Massey Jr., who averages 19 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. Tydran Beaty scores 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists. Shane Osayande finds 12 points and has a team-leading 8 rebounds per game. Antonio Biglow leads the team in assists with 5 per game.

 

Tip-off is 2PM.
