Pregame Analysis: Highlanders vs Riptide in Saint John (Apr 1/18)

The Cape Breton Highlanders professional basketball team will play their third game in three days, as they wrap up their season when they visit the Saint John Riptide on Sunday afternoon.

 

This will be the eighth matchup of the season, the Riptide lead the season series with a 4-3 record against the Highlanders. It will be the 16th meeting all-time, and the Highlanders have an overall record of 6-9 against the Riptide.

 

The Riptide are tied for 3rd place in the Atlantic Division with a record of 19-20, and have a record of 13-6 at home. They played last night in Moncton against the Magic, and lost 93 - 82.

The Highlanders are 5th in the Atlantic Division with a record of 13-26 and have a record of 6-13 on the road this season. The Highlanders played back-to-back games at home on Friday and Saturday against the PE Island Storm and Halifax Hurricanes, winning the first and dropping the second, in two exciting games.

 

The Highlanders are led by Bruce Massey Jr. (#1), who averages 23 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists a game. Malik Story (#10) scores 21 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists, while Tydran Beaty (#8) averages 15 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists.

 

For the Riptide, Malcolm Miller (#33) scores 18 points, with 6 rebounds, and 2 assists per game, while Horace Wormley (#4) averages 13 points, 5 rebounds, and passes for 6 assists a game. Former Highlander Aly Ahmed (#61) averages 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists.
