The Results
Summary Observations
- Amanda McDougall was ranked first in both BEST Mayor and most VOTES. She was also most often ranked at or near the top of each question, and least often ranked at or near the bottom of each question. This was the same in the first poll and McDougall showed additional gains in the second poll.
- Cecil Clarke and Amanda McDougall finished far ahead of the four other candidates for most votes — this may suggest a close two-way race. The results were similar in the first poll but McDougall gained some distance from Clarke, while Clarke gained significant distance from the other four candidates. This may suggest that some voters no longer consider the other four candidates as viable as they were in the first poll.
- Archie MacKinnon and Chris Abbass dropped significantly in both questions. This may suggest that they have lost voter confidence since the first poll.
- Current and previous poll results are shown below for comparison. The previous poll results may not add up to 100% because a candidate had dropped out early during the poll and that candidate's results are not shown below. Results for the second and final poll are below and you can click here to view the full results for the previous poll.
Results for Question 1
"Rank each candidate based on who would be the BEST Mayor of CBRM."
The following chart shows how often each candidate was ranked in the bottom of the list, in 5th or 6th position.
How we calculated RANKED 1st of 2nd — Sum of all first place and second place rankings for a given candidate divided by total rankings for the same candidate. Example: if candidate received 10 first-place rankings, 5 second-place rankings, and 45 lower rankings, the result is (10+5) / (10+5+45) x100% = 25% of respondents ranked this candidate in either first or second place. RANKED 5th or 6th was done using the same method but with 5th and 6th place rankings.
Results for Question 2
"Rank each CBRM Mayoral candidate in order by the number of VOTES they will win."
