Cape Breton Regional Police say one person is dead after an early morning shooting in Whitney Pier, N.S., but have not disclosed the age or gender of the victim.

In a statement issued Saturday morning, police said they were called to a home in the Shore Road area after gun shots were heard.

Police said a male fled the scene, as well as a white truck.

Police said they tried to stop the vehicle, but were unsuccessful. Three people inside the vehicle then fled into a wooded area.
