Ya got fire personel practising drills in anticipation of a fire at Morrison school and no one clued in and said just tear it down. The excuses I heard at last night's council meeting were unacceptable. There may be an excuse for a building not being torn down for a short period of time but no excuse whatsoever will cover 15 years. The answer going forward is obvious. You have qualified personel declare a building ready for the wrecking ball and notify the owner that they have say....6 months to tear it down "or else" CBRM will do it and bill the owner. If the owner fails to do it the Municipality begins legal action by way of judgements, liens, garnishment etc.The message will be understood loud and clear but this looking the other way does not work. The city looks like war torn Lebanon right now.

P.S.Sorry but I should have noted that while chairing the meeting the other night the mayor had a bird's eye {no pun intended} view of pigeons trapped and roosting in a derelict building across the street from the Civic Center.
