Dear Editor,
    Not terribly long ago, the editorial staff at the New Yorker magazine brought to light a campaign to remove an unnecessary word from what was deemed the over-burdened English language. A unanimous vote was cast in favour to do away with the word slacks. I shall now join a parallel effort as I personally, and passionately, elect to remove the word should.
