The public is asked to please avoid the area to allow officers to do their work. Currently several roads are closed. Please follow directions from officers on scene about closures on Humes Rear East Loop and Hwy. 105 between the north and south entrance to Humes Rear East Loop and Jo Gun Rd. This incident continues to be contained to a residence and officers on scene are working towards a peaceful resolution.

The following has been posted on RCMPNS social media accounts:

RCMP officers are on Humes Rear Rd. in #Wagmatcook responding to a situation involving an armed person who has barricaded himself inside a residence. There's a heavy police presence in the area. Please avoid to allow investigators to do their work.

The following emergency alert has been issued to people in Victoria, Inverness and Cape Breton counties:

DANGEROUS PERSON with firearm inside residence. RCMP responding. Wagmatcook, Nova Scotia. Residents: Seek immediate shelter or stay inside and close and lock doors and windows. Do not leave a secure location. Suspect last seen at a residence on Humes Rear Rd. Nova Scotia RCMP is responding. Do not provide a ride to anyone asking for one. Do not pick up hitch hikers. Do not disclose police locations. Call 9-1-1 to report emergencies or tips. Updates will be posted to RCMPNS social accounts.
