I found this article forgot to mention where this Aramark company is from. Yes, Aramark is a US company. It's headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and is a prominent provider of food, facilities, and uniform services in the United States, with a global presence in other countries as well. All the hype coming from government to promote not buying from the US as well as not travelling there and yet this is okay??? With skeleton good paying jobs with decent benefits is here in Cape Breton, I find myself feeling discouraged that this has been allowed to happen. I’m sure there could have been other areas where they could cut costs, like maybe the wages of the heads and teachers etc. Just another blow of “Who Cares, it’s only Cape Breton.”

There are several Cdn companies, including some local ones, who are prefectly capable of managing Food Service to NSCC, and they should NOT be doing business with a US Company in this political environment. And if the Students/Staff have to pay 10% more, so be it. If we're serious about counteracting Trump & Tariffs, we will need to share the pain. A global economy is great but COVID showed us how fragile is the Supply Chain, and Trump is showing us how fragile is the relationship. Plus, we should be boycotting companies like Walmart, and Amazon more often than not they just supply things we don't really need, and often can't afford. We need to produce and buy local.
