So Pier residents made us all proud when they successfully stood up to our politicians who were about to establish a commune in their Pier neighbourhood without community consultation. Now officials are gonna attempt to do the same thing in another neighbourhood.Did they not learn anything from the first fiasco? As for the shelters themselves: When an individual builds a home in CBRM{and other Municipalities} they are subjected to many rules/laws and inspections all during the building process. The process was established to insure the safety of the occupant and at they end they get permission to move in.These glorified baby barns are not subjected to that and thus occupants are living in inhumane conditions. These "fixes" are nothing more than props that government can use to tell the world they are helping the homeless. One can argue it's better than before but that's not the point. They should provide folks the same safe minimum guidelines as everyone else.
