A 50-year-old man has been charged after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle that left the scene last week on Keltic Drive in Sydney, N.S.

The pedestrian, a woman in her 20s, died in hospital.

Jason Gordon Cashin is charged with failing to stop after an accident causing death, according to a news release from the Cape Breton Regional Police.

He was scheduled to appear in Sydney provincial court on Wednesday.

Police said they have also seized a vehicle in relation to the case.
