A social enterprise agency is going to have to pay its full property taxes after losing an appeal of the assessed value of its main building in downtown Sydney, N.S.

New Dawn Enterprises had asked the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board to base its assessment on its ability to pay, which would have cut its property tax bill by more than half.

If "ability to pay" was a method available to homeowners, many of our tax bills would certainly be slashed! New Dawn has smart finance people on their team. Therefore, it was not a surprise to them as to future cost of taxes. However, given that they are taxed *unfairly* (or unsustainably) like everyone else, it would be great to have them join in on advocacy for full tax reform for all in the CBRM—as I advocated for in my mayoral campaign.

Couldn’t agree with you more Joe! You practically took the words out of my mouth. Taxes here in the CBRM is out of reach and I’m hoping Cecil Clark does something about it. Time will tell I guess.
