I read this morning that the UN says that the Amazon fires mean that the Earth is approaching the point of no return. And that the Australian government has rated the state of the Great Barrier Reef as “very poor” - it was “poor” five years ago when the last comprehensive study was done.
People who live live in Greenland are experiencing what is being called “ecological grief” and Courtney Howard, leader of the Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment, tells us that “the intersection between the climate emergency and mental and physical health will become one of the world’s major issues.”
The upcoming federal election in Canada is extremely important.
We need leaders who understand climate change.
I had a look at Andrew Scheer’s plan for fighting climate change.
I will write more about Scheer’s plan: In this post I want to point out grand statements that Scheer and his team make without evidence.
Carbon taxes aren’t working. We are just supposed to accept this as a fact.
Surely Scheer knows that British Columbia imposed the first carbon tax covering a full economy in North America and that now, 11 years later, carbon emissions are down 14 % and the economy is up 26%.
So this tells us that Scheer has built his argument against carbon taxes on incomplete or false information.
We cannot support these tactics at this time.
I will next write about Scheer versus Science.
