Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal have begun the third and final phase of the Seal Island Bridge inspection. This phase includes an underwater inspection and an ultra-high inspection.
The underwater portion involves a team of divers who are checking the abutments and piers. To complete the ultra-high portion, a large lift will be used to reach the arch of the bridge. This work will be done at night beginning on Monday, August 5. Closures will be 30-minutes in length from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. Work is expected to be complete by Friday, August 9.
The first phase of this inspection began in the fall of 2018. All findings from the three phases will be compiled into a report that will help inform the scope of future rehabilitation work to the Seal Island Bridge.
