Second Wind Community Concert Band will resume rehearsals on Wednesday, September 6th to prepare for their 31st season. 

The band has many plans for the new season including kicking off the season with their annual Cape Breton Community BandFest weekend. The band hosts like-minded Maritime Community Band members for a workshop style weekend with guest conductors that end with a finale concert. The weekend is Oct 20-22 in Sydney. There is a level for experienced players as well as a level for Novice players with at least a year’s experience on their instrument. 

Throughout the year the band will prepare for their main shows which center around the solstices and the equinox in the spring. Their shows support the Every Woman’s Centre and the Music Therapy Program for Hospice and Palliative Care. 

If you’re a seasoned player and haven’t played for some time the Fall BandFest weekend is a great way to get back to playing, or if you’re presently playing, contact the Artistic Team. The team is made up of Michele Xidos, Margaret Miles and Laura Mercer. 

The mottos ‘Music for Life’ and ‘Community Helping Community’ are the two mottos this wonderful group is guided by. The commitment to the group, along with the JOY of making music at both rehearsals and performances is the glue that binds this special community group.
