Senator Dan Christmas was the featured guest at New Dawn to reflect on Cape Breton after his first year in the Senate. The audience were both surprised and captivated to hear him discuss the idea of Cape Breton becoming the 11th province in Canada. Several of them took the opportunity to share some ideas or ask the Senator follow up questions.

Now is the time to "start the conversation" about our future and the future of Cape Breton Island .

The lack of transparency and a SEPARATE accounting for all these years for the distribution WITHIN this province of the $44 plus billions of federal Equalization payments by the provincial government has even Senator Dan Christmas sounding the obvious alarm on the economic survival of this island. The government still refuses to address this issue. The public has to deal with this seriously at the next election by NOT re-electing ANY of the current members from this island who remain silent.
