"We want to encourage our youth to be more physically active," says Dawn Stevens , school Principal. "Having the right shoes will surely help."
The Cape Breton Highlanders Professional Basketball Team is partnering with Value Village and goCapeBreton.com to run a shoe drive for the students of the Eskasoni Elementary and Middle School .
Tyrone Levingston, President of Highlanders Basketball, says, "Athletic shoes are designed to allow for more active play, while reducing the chance of injury. Young people are constantly outgrowing their shoes, and athletic shoes are very expensive to keep replacing. We are delighted to have Value Village and the Cape Breton Island community step up to help encourage active lifestyles for our youth."
Tammy Burton of Value Village is donating athletic shoes that come in to the store.
