Testing the future of tidal energy in Nova Scotia

I recall a day some 8 or 9 years ago standing on a the Barra Strait Bridge in the heart of Cape Breton with Engineers from Schottel Hydro talking about the vision of a tidal energy machine harvesting renewable energy from the Barra Strait.

The arm waving of the day, painted a picture of a device comparable to what is shown in this article.

While the Cape Breton vision for tidal energy never caught traction for lots of reasons, it is very exciting to see that the dreamers never stopped dreaming,..... and diligence and ongoing investment of money, energy and passion carried on.

These key ingredients are needed for advancement of science, business or community endeavors to move forward, (with or against the tide, likely both).

Congratulations Ralf and Schottel for never giving up on the dream..

Maybe someday this technology and approach will make sense, even in Cape Breton.

I stand corrected by Ralf of Schottel..... ...the timelines get blurry when one looks back where we once were..... and where we hoped to get to.......on this trip down memory lane.... :). ......The discussion of Tidal COMFIT concepts for the Barra Strait go back to 2011 ... and the Schottel discussions with CBU and CCBCVI some what later...(fall 2014).. ..
