The NSEF Reaches out to Nicole LaFosse-Parker.

Father Maroun has taken the opportunity to try and reach Nicole LaFosse-Parker. Nicole is the Chief of Staff for Tim Houston and Father Maroun is trying to secure another meeting with both Tim Houston and Nicole. The NSEF had met Nicole a few years back when Tim Houston was running for the party leadership. Nicole was the first representative from Tim Houston to discuss the deal of doubling the equalization payments to municipalities until a new MOU was reached. Here is Father Maroun’s letter that was sent today to Nicole LaFosse-Parker: Nicole LaFosse-Parker Chief of Staff for the PC Government of Nova Scotia Dear Nicole LaFosse-Parker: It has been some time now since we met last (New Dawn on Townsend Street) just before Tim Houston won the PC leadership race. Nicole, I write you today to see if you might be able to assist your home (the CBRM) with another meeting about “Equalization Fairness” with Tim Houston and yourself. As a resident of the CBRM, surely you are aware of the struggles we face with regards to a lack of distribution of equalization funding. The property taxation in the CBRM is more than double than the HRM now and yet Mr. Houston thinks the best way to assist our residents is to give the municipality even less than we have received in previous years and we wanted to better understand his train of thought on this issue. Nicole, as you are aware, it was rural Nova Scotia that elected Tim Houston and his majority PC government. Now, his elected MLA’s, such as Brian Comer, John White, Allan MacMaster, etc. won’t even speak to their constituents about anything to do with the word “equalization”. Why? I am 92 years old Nicole and my colleague, Charles Sampson, is 81 years old and Brian Comer has blocked Charles on Facebook for asking an equalization related question. Is that democracy or fair Nicole? Is that how the Tim Houston PC Government operates, just ignore, and block the people asking the questions that the government does not want to answer? I sincerely hope Nicole, that you, as Chief of Staff for Mr. Houston, will not be like the rest of the Cape Bretoners who were able to help your home, the CBRM, like Gerald Butts, Lisa Raitt, Mark Peck, and others and just ignore this email because of partisan politics. Please Nicole, prove us wrong and respond to this email and arrange a time that I, and our organization, the NSEF, can discuss the constitutional rights of the residents of the CBRM and rural Nova Scotia with regards to equalization fairness and taxation. I do hope you have a great day Nicole, and I will be waiting for a reply from you. Regards, Rev. Dr. Albert Maroun PhD on behalf of The Nova Scotians for Equalization Fairness
