Tips For Reducing Heating and Cooling Costs

Keith Gillis - ARL Mechanical

Cape Bretoners know that our weather fluctuates wildly. There are ways to make your home more comfortable while lowering energy costs, like draft-proofing windows and doors, upgrading insulation, and installing energy-efficient heat pumps.

Heat pumps can be an effective year-round solution to heating and cooling your home. They  extract heat from groundwater or from the air outside your home. Except for the coldest days of winter, a heat pump can still generate heat to warm your house.

Many homeowners have installed heat pumps because they are energy efficient and result in lower costs. Heat pumps also have fewer moving parts than a regular system, which means fewer repairs and maintenance. Plus, heat pumps don’t burn fossil fuels and are environmentally friendly.
