Trans-Canada 150x2 Debuts In Montreal [VIDEO]

Twenty-two months of work have culminated in a Grand Opening of the Trans-Canada 150x2 Exhibition at Galerie 203 in Old Montreal.

Cape Breton artist Alison Grapes and her best friend Carol Loeb travelled the Trans-Canada Highway in 2017, stopping every 150 km to document what they found and producing one painting at each stop. The result is a series of 106 paintings that show the landscapes of Canada from the east coast to the west.

Global Montreal did a piece on the exhibition and talked to Alison and Carol about their experience.

The story begins at 4:28 in the video below.

Both Alison and Carol taught art in the Cape Breton-Victoria Regional School Board. Carol currently teaches at Lower Canada College in Montreal, and Alison recently retired from the Saskatoon School Board.
