Upcoming Protests at MPs Offices Over Equalization Issue

Mike Kelloway and Jaime Battiste continue to ignore our request so now we are planning protests. The NSEF board members are fully aware that there is a need to protest Mike Kelloway’s and Jaime Battiste offices and this need was discussed in a recent meeting with the board. Anytime an MP’s office is protested, that coverage is usually reported by the mainstream media. We have had our message distorted many times by mainstream media so the NSEF will prepare a release and provide it to the media outlets (CTV, CBC, etc.) about why we are protesting. Mike Kelloway refuses to meet and discuss why he provided us with evidence that he said was proof that the equalization transfer is sent unconditionally when the material he provided said the opposite. The second reason why we need to protest the MP’s offices is because they are doing nothing to see the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada answer some simple questions regarding our constitutional rights under section 36 of the Canadian Constitution. We have waited patiently while Jodi Wilson-Raybould, David Lametti and now Arif Virani have all ignored our letters asking for explanations. We hope some of the public will join us during our protests and the time and dates will be announced next week. We are pressing this government for answers about our right to live equally with the rest of Canada and we would hope the public will support that effort by attending with us as we hold our elected representatives accountable for our excessive property taxation in the CBRM. Enjoy your weekend. The NSEF

Nova Scotians for Equalization Fairness My Post Follow Me
We again sent the letter to Kelloway and Battiste this afternoon... Dear MP Mike Kelloway and MP Jaime Battiste: The following letter was sent to Minister Arif Virani multiple times, but the Minister continues to ignore the questions raised in this letter. We have sent the same letter asking the same questions to other Liberal Ministers of Justice and Attorney Generals of Canada such as Jodi Wilson-Raybould and David Lametti and they, along with Minister Virani, have ignored the questions about the rights of the citizens in the CBRM and rural Nova Scotia with regards to section 36 of the Canadian Constitution. Gentlemen, is this the service the public can expect from your government? We have provided a copy once again here for you to forward to the Ministers office in Ottawa and rest assured that we will be following up. Thank you in advance. The NSEF August 3, 2023 Re-sent October 17, 2023, resent December 1 2023 March 2024 and Aug 2.24 Dear Justice Minister Arif Virani: Congratulations on your important appointment as the federal Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada. We wish you success in your new government assignment.......

The public is not being provided with the information they are entitled to receive regarding the actual manipulation by the provincial government of the yearly federal $billions of the Equalization payments within this province. From a bizarre decision of the Nova Scotia Appeal Court that stated section 36 of the Constitution Act, 1982 is the exclusive prerogative of the provincial and the federal governments as to whether this enshrined law will be adhered to. That this decision overturned a 1950 Supreme Court of Canada ruling that the Canadian constitution does not belong to Parliament or to any of the Legislatures, it belongs to the country, and it is there that the citizens are entitled to the protections of the rights to which they are entitled. Ironically, that decision by the SCOC is one of the legal questions put to the current minister of justice, two of the past ministers also refused to respond, and after a few attempts this minister has refused to answer to. Consequently, the alleged supremacy of the SCOC has been certainly denied by the usurpers of lower court judges in Nova Scotia. The unconstitutional transferring of these yearly federal Equalization transfers “unconditionally” to the provinces is being seen as legal, which is not true. After many requests for the legal reference that would authorize this federal practice, none has been provided by the federal government. In fact, M.P. Mike KELLOWAY misinformed the NSEF members with a legal document that did not say what he claimed it was saying. And when informed of his error, Mike has been on the run since. The public, for years, has not been allowed to know about a government constitutional spending commitment it has every right to know about.

Neither of them have any interest in the topic. I guess if they think they're still safe during a Conservative uprising in Canada and interesting candidates like Anna Manley challenging (Battiste), then they can weather the storm. Jaime is probably more comfortable with the pressure. Kelloway is not comfortable with being disliked or criticized.
