A number of new friendships were forged Friday night after a dozen people travelling by bus to Halifax from Sydney became stranded at a restaurant in Cape Breton.

The group, which included a hockey player, university students, a salesman and four exchange students from Spain, planned to stay at Vi's Restaurant in Whycocomagh until the snow cleared.

That ended up being 23 hours!
