Let me guess, all the players are boys and all the dancers are girls. Really. What century is this?

I'm not sure if people know this, but there's an amazing dance community right here on Cape Breton Island that I would have never known about if I weren't part of the local theatre community. There are professional level dancers here that compete in competitions all around Canada, but because we don't have a general venue for dance, few outside the dance community realize that community exists. I find this actually happens quite a lot around Cape Breton. I've heard there's an active amateur boxing community, wrestling community, writer communities, and all sorts of things you would never know about or hear about unless you knew someone who actually does it. We just tend to bubble around here. I definitely know about our local drag community though. They aren't shy about self-promotion!

I guess that is what goCapeBreton is trying to help with. The next time you are in contact with anyone interesting for any reason, convince them to post here! It would be cool if we had a modern cheerleader troupe, with "ladies" as they call for , but also men and women, and maybe even drag artists!

I find that we are much more progressive than what meets my eye on a daily basis, but only because the mainstream that holds the keys have no idea either! It would be so good if diverse communities would take the time to post.

I see this as an opportunity to take the Cape Breton brand to a broader audience. Here's a simple what if? Rather than take the typical cheer leading approach they choreograph a River Dance meets Cheer leading approach? Sydney River Dance - OK, that's my typical silliness rising to the surface. But that would be cool, heck I may simply come out to watch the dancing!
