XR is organizing an International Rebellion on the week of 15 April 2019 and follow-up actions until our governments tell the truth about the climate crisis...

On Friday, March 15, more than 1.5 million schoolkids around the world marched in protest. Their message was simple: the current efforts by governments and industries to slow climate disruption are woefully insufficient. Without swift, systemic action, we are heading for an environmental collapse of unprecedented scale -- one that spells disaster for humanity, or even extinction.

It's tempting to dismiss a youth-led strike as merely an excuse to skip school. But if you speak with them, and listen to them, you'll see the truth: they are scared, angry, and confused. Why aren't grownups in positions of power doing more to stop this? Their futures are being sacrificed for profit. The beautiful world they have been taught to respect and cherish is being slowly incinerated before their very eyes.

They deserve better. We all do. And, fellow grownups: the kids cannot fix this alone. If you care about the future of your planet, or your country, or your family, then the time to act is now.

The good news: "action" can take many different forms. No matter what your interests and skill-sets, you've got a role in this movement. Extinction Rebellion is an international coalition of citizens determined to raise awareness and provoke action in the face of the current climate crisis.

This public talk has been given hundreds of times in the UK and was the main tool in increasing the numbers that have stood up to rebel. We would like that to happen here in Canada.

We will share the latest climate science on where our planet is heading, discuss some of the current psychology around climate change denial, and offer solutions through the study of social movements.

Note - we are not trying to "save the planet"...we are at the point where we need to save ourselves. The Earth itself will go on...the issue is whether we as humans and all other species will be here too.
