During the announcement, the 2023 Inductees announced include the following Cape Breton Artists:
Rita MacNeil
The Men of the Deeps
Matt Minglewood
Song Induction “Getting Dark Again” – Buddy MacDonald
CBMIC Board and Staff members L-R and their inductees:
This is an exciting new development to the Cape Breton Music Industry overall and a significant new component for the Cape Breton Music Industry Cooperative (CBMIC) as we continue to grow as the Music Association for the Region of Cape Breton Island.
“Being involved in our music industry for a few decades, and as such, I am aware of the vast and eclectic musical talent our Music Island has to offer the world. A project like this has been on my mind for an exceptionally long time, and the time to act has presented itself in the form of the Music Industry Hall of Fame. This is a significant milestone for our island and music and tourism industries. I would like to thank all of our current and past board members, our musicians, and especially our communities for their support. It is because of that we are here today with this amazing announcement.” - Nigel Kearns, CBMIC Chair of the Board
