Sebastian Cabot's World map, ca. 1544

If modern scholars generally favour a northern landfall for Cabot's 1497 voyage, there has been strong support for a landfall on Cape Breton Island. Trying to locate the information I came across about Cape Breton once being a part of the Northwest Coast of South America (had it, but computer hacked & lost it). I came across a site with some interesting historical information on Cape Breton and who settled what, who arrived first etc. The most interesting thing for me was the ancient maps that are contained in this article, as historians continue to debate who arrived where first, etc. http://www.heritage.nf.ca/articles/exploration/cape-breton-landfall.php

Interesting article. How does Newfoundland support their argument for a landfall there, I wonder?
