MAIN-A-DIEU, NS – 33 year-old resident of Main-a-Dieu, Nova Scotia, Amanda McDougall is officially announcing her intent to run in the October 2016 municipal election for the Cape Breton Regional Municipality District 8 Council seat.
McDougall is currently employed with the Cape Breton Partnership where she is working with municipalities across the Island to develop an Immigration Action Plan that will focus on strengthening local businesses, addressing the demographic issues the Island faces and will also create an Island-wide network of community supports and educational opportunities.
A dedicated community member, McDougall is an active volunteer in many organizations including the Main-a-Dieu Community Development Association, the C@P Society of Cape Breton, and the Fortress of Louisbourg Association. She was an integral part in the campaign to have the MV Miner removed from the shores of Scaterie Island and is an advocate for creating sustainable ways to develop and strengthen communities across the Island and province.
“I am very excited for the opportunity to participate in the 2016 CBRM election as I have a strong passion for our area and am dedicated to creating a strong network of people and communities across District 8” cites McDougall. “I plan to run a campaign that is focused on ways in which our communities can work together towards achieving common goals and plan to do so on a foundation of transparency and active communication with residents and organizations within the district and municipality”.
